There’s a bit of LOUIE LOUIE in the song “Speeding Motorcycle” by Daniel Johnston. Or maybe “El Loco Cha Cha.” Or maybe “Wild Thing.” Or maybe all of the above.
Craig Bonnell has a blog that mentions the “Speeding Motorcycle” or “Speedy Motorcycle” performed by Daniel Johnston with Yo La Tengo as a telephone collaboration at WFMU radio. Over at the French Blog Up site, there’s a direct link to that version, and an acoustic version performed in France. The second version has more of a LOUIE LOUIE groove to it. As I can’t read French, I tried out the Google French-English translation robots , which provides an approximation for French illiterates such as myself.
Neither blog acknowledged the LOUIE connection, but I could spot this thing a mile away.
