LOUIE is not on the torture list

Posted on July 16, 2008

Over at BoingBoing, I saw this posting:

Mother Jones has an audio feature up this week — a compilation of songs believed to be used in US military prisons and on bases… to induce sleep deprivation, “prolong capture shock,” disorient detainees during interrogations—and also drown out screams.

Based on a leaked interrogation log, news reports, and the accounts of soldiers and detainees, here are some of the songs that guards and interrogators chose.

Looking at the Mother Jones article and playlist, I see that LOUIE LOUIE is not one of the “torture songs.”

The same could not be said about the Barney theme song, the Meow Mix TV commercial and the BeeGees “Staying Alive.”

After listening to the Mother Jones piece, I have to say that the Barnie song would make me break down and confess…
