New York: Babel Theatre Productions (Geordie Broadwater, Artistic Director, Jeremy Blocker, Producing Director ) presents the world premiere of James Carmichael’s Stomp and Shout an’ Work it All Out) directed by Geordie Broadwater. Stomp and Shout will begin performances Thursday, May 29 opening Sunday, June 1 and will run through June 21st at Upstairs at the 45th Street Theatre (354 West 45th Street).

From 1963 until 1965, the FBI undertook an investigation into the lyrics of the hit song Louie, Louie. Stomp and Shout is a rock and roll adaptation of those events, following the heroic efforts of our dark-suited guardians to protect us from ourselves. As two agents probe the case, each step brings them deeper into a tangled web of government officials, Cuban Nationals, musicians, drug-deals, and America’s youth. While one detective’s obsession grows, the other finds the line between his personal and professional lives blurring. Filled with spirit and song, Stomp and Shout an’ Work it All Out) is an examination of a moment in American history when popular culture, politics, and the American ideal collided.

The cast includes: Christopher Rubin (I Hate Outer Space TV “Law & Order), Geraldine Bartlett (True West, Edinburgh), Brian D. Coats (Public’s Merry Wives of Windsor, Two Gentleman of Verona), Carolyn McCandlish (Happy Hour, Donnie Darko ART), William Jackson Harper (Paradise Park, Queens Boulevard The Musical), Katrina Foy (National Tour The Barber of Seville), Cary McClellandm, Joe Mullen, Frank Rodriguez, Jeremy Schwartz (Film: Radiant, Montclair, Staten Island with Ethan Hawke), Joe C.Sullivan (The Shaughraun), Andrew Zimmerman
