Here’s a video I didn’t know existed until now. On my Frank Zappa & LOUIE LOUIE page, I documented all the known instances where Frank Zappa utilized elements from this iconic rock song. I mentioned that Yellow Shark, the last project released before his death in 1993, contained a track entitled “Welcome to the United States” with a little LOUIE LOUIE reference after a statement about “terrorist activities.”
Thanks to Francis of France, I now know about a video of Frank Zapppa conducting a performance of “Welcome to the United States” with Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt, Germany on September 19th 1992. LOUIE LOUIE kicks in sometime around 5:15. Enjoy!
