This week, the mighty LOUIE spotlight is pointed at William Shatner<\/strong>‘s inspired rendition of The Cramps<\/strong>‘ “Garbage Man.”<\/p>\n

Or as Captain Kirk<\/strong> might say, this rendition may …“Boldly Go Where No Garbage Man Has Gone Before…”<\/em><\/p>\n

This recording is from the upcoming “Dr. Demento Covered in Punk” compilation being released by Demented Punk Records<\/strong> on January 12th, 2018. The new collection will be available digitally and as a two-CD or three-LP vinyl set. John Cafiero<\/strong>, the frontman of Osaka Popstar<\/strong>, is responsible for producing this collection, collaborating with Barret Hansen<\/strong>, aka Dr. Demento, who also wrote an afterward to follow Cafiero’s foreward. This collection will feature some contributions from the B-52s, Los Straitjackets, Shonen Knife, Joan Jett, James Kochalka Superstar, Nobunny, the Meatmen, Osaka Popstar, the Vandals, Philly Boy Roy, Elvira, the Misfits<\/strong> and the late Adam West<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

The Cramps’ “Garbage Man,” is of course a LOUIE mutant, and\/ or LOUIE relative, borrowing some elements from Richard Berry<\/strong>‘s most famous composition.<\/p>\n

A shame we have to wait until January to get this.
\nThis would have been a great Christmas present….
