According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nj.com\/springsteen\/index.ssf\/2014\/04\/bruce_springsteen_opens_a_hot_1.html\">Stan Goldstein of the (New Jersey) Star-Ledger<\/a>, the last time Bruce ever played LOUIE LOUIE was on May 7, 2009 in Toronto, Canada.   The spell was broken a few days ago on April 19th at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C.  It was a very special show featuring a lot of rarities, surprises and special requests.<\/p>\n<p>LOUIE LOUIE was the first song of the event performed as a result of a sign request.  There were 8 other songs performed in response to fan requests, including Van Morrison&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=3ndCEMzWFnM#t=61\">Brown-Eyed Girl<\/a>,&#8221; another one of my personal favorites.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/rockforward.wordpress.com\/tag\/louie-louie\/\">Rob Nichols of ROCKforward Music<\/a> had some high praise for this very special performance of LOUIE LOUIE:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I\u2019m gonna call it the greatest version of the roadhouse\/garage rock classic \u201cLouie Louie\u201d since The Kingsmen did it.
