{"id":451,"date":"2008-07-26T23:42:23","date_gmt":"2008-07-27T06:42:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/blog\/?p=451"},"modified":"2008-07-27T00:45:34","modified_gmt":"2008-07-27T07:45:34","slug":"rare-video-of-the-calvanes-from-louie-archives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/blog\/?p=451","title":{"rendered":"Rare video of the Calvanes from LOUIE archives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Continuing with more memories from the <strong>Hunter Hancock<\/strong> tribute event produced by Doo Wop Society of Southern California of March 4, 2000, I&#8217;m sharing another clip from the same show, the same videotape.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"425\" height=\"344\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/z68j6VATsvQ&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/z68j6VATsvQ&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>This is <strong>the Calvanes<\/strong> performing the song &#8220;Crazy Over You.&#8221;  My friend <a href=\"http:\/\/www.45sshow.blogspot.com\/\"><strong>Steve Propes<\/strong><\/a> is the man introducing the band, which features <strong>Herman Pruitt, Bobby Adams, James Corbett<\/strong>, and <strong>Fred Willis<\/strong>. You can read a nice little overview of that evening by going to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricearl.com\/dws\/show-31.html\"><strong>Doo-Society<\/strong> review page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Back <a href=\"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/blog\/?p=197\">in October 2006, I reported<\/a> that <strong>Freddie Willis<\/strong> of the Calvanes, died of cancer.  Freddie joined the group in 1958 and recorded on their Deck singles.  He was a member of the group during the last 16 years.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure which one of these gentleman is Freddie, but I&#8217;m happy to share this video, just as I shared video of <strong>Hunter Hancock<\/strong> and <strong>Johnny Flamingo<\/strong> from the same videotape.
