{"id":329,"date":"2007-10-30T19:51:11","date_gmt":"2007-10-31T02:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/blog\/?p=329"},"modified":"2007-10-30T19:56:58","modified_gmt":"2007-10-31T02:56:58","slug":"sonics-reunion-mere-days-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/blog\/?p=329","title":{"rendered":"Sonics reunion &#8211; mere days away&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/pix-2007\/sonics-newyorker.jpg\" alt=\"a cool illustration of the SONICS courtesy of New Yorker magazine\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If only my bank account wasn&#8217;t like a perpetually-hungry feral dog, slurping away with a frantic appetite  at what meager scraps were thrown into it&#8217;s under-nourished belly, I&#8217;d be in New York city next weekend for the most anticipated reunion in the garage rock music circles.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, it looks like I&#8217;m going to have to miss the reunion of <strong>The Sonics<\/strong>.  I really had high hopes of travelling to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/cavestomp\">Cave Stomp<\/a> to see Tacoma&#8217;s legendary pre-punk garage rock pioneers, but unfortunately,  it wasn&#8217;t meant to be.  Folks that owe me money are taking their sweet time in paying, and I just can&#8217;t afford to fly to the Big Apple right now.<\/p>\n<p>Damn.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, there is some good press on this show.  The illustration was borrowed from a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/arts\/events\/nightlife\/2007\/11\/05\/071105goni_GOAT_nightlife\">Night Life article in <strong>NewYorker<\/strong> magazine<\/a>.  <strong>RollingStone<\/strong> has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/news\/story\/17119013\/season_of_the_witch\">an article by David Fricke<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>The last I heard, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/cavestomp\">tickets are still available<\/a> for both Friday and Sunday shows.
