{"id":236,"date":"2007-01-28T23:34:26","date_gmt":"2007-01-29T06:34:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/blog\/?p=236"},"modified":"2018-04-11T18:29:52","modified_gmt":"2018-04-12T01:29:52","slug":"llamas-international-louie-louie-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/blog\/?p=236","title":{"rendered":"LLAMAS  &#038; International LOUIE LOUIE Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s information about a group that was recently formed at the <a href=\"http:\/\/launch.groups.yahoo.com\/group\/louie-louie\/\">LOUIE LOUIE Party Yahoo Group<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You may already be a member!  <\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/pix-2007\/LLAMAS_logo.gif\" width=\"94\" height=\"139\" align=\"left\"\/><\/p>\n<p> <strong>The LOUIE LOUIE Advocacy and Music Appreciation  Society (LLAMAS)<\/strong> was formed in early 2007 by a group of musicians, fans and collectors with a particular (and in some cases obsessive) interest in the song LOUIE LOUIE. <\/p>\n<p>The mission of LLAMAS is to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p align=\"left\">Foster awareness of the unique role that the song LOUIE LOUIE has played in the history of popular music; <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"left\">Promote an ongoing appreciation and popularity of LOUIE LOUIE; and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"left\">Encourage musical education and a broader appreciation of music through the amazing variety and creativity that has been demonstrated in the many, many different versions of LOUIE LOUIE; in almost every musical style imaginable.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are a number of activities and events that LLAMAS and its members participate in as part of carrying out the LLAMAS mission.  These include:<\/p>\n<p>1.  Promoting the observance of <a href=\"http:\/\/louielouieweb.tripod.com\/LL-day.htm\">International LOUIE LOUIE Day<\/a> each year on <strong>April 11<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>2.  Pushing to get Louie Louie recognized by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guinnessworldrecords.com\/\">Guinness World Records<\/a> as the song that has been covered more than any other.  The good folks at Guinness currently recognize &#8220;Yesterday&#8221; by the Beatles as having that honor, but we have documented enough versions of LOUIE LOUIE to demonstrate that it should hold the record.<\/p>\n<p>3.  Supporting other efforts to set records or create other noteworthy events involving LOUIE LOUIE &#8211; such as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.louiefest.com\/\">LouieFest \/ 1000 Guitars<\/a> event that has attempted to set a world record by having over 1000 guitarists simultaneously playing LOUIE LOUIE.<\/p>\n<p>4. Encouraging artists to record and make available new versions of LOUIE LOUIE.<\/p>\n<p>5. Educating the public the unique history of LOUIE LOUIE, and supporting other initiatives aimed at telling the LOUIE LOUIE story &#8211; such as the forthcoming documentary film, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/07-film.htm\"><strong>The Meaning of Louie<\/strong><\/a>.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>6. Advocating for official recognition of LOUIE LOUIE, such as a street name or even revitalizing the effort to have LOUIE LOUIE declared the <a href=\"http:\/\/louielouieweb.tripod.com\/state_song.htm\">official state song of Washington<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>7.
