As I learned today, his composition &#8220;The Edge&#8221; was on the soundtrack of the 2008 video game Grand Theft Auto IV and was sampled by Dr. Dre, Missin&#8217; Linx, Masta Ace, John Legend, and Ren. <\/p>\n<p>In January 1967, David McCallum released &#8220;It&#8217;s Happening Now!,&#8221; his 3rd album, which featured his version of Louie Louie!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/David_McCallum_Its_Happening_Now_500x.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/David_McCallum_Its_Happening_Now_500x.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13646\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/David_McCallum_Its_Happening_Now_500x.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/David_McCallum_Its_Happening_Now_500x-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/David_McCallum_Its_Happening_Now_500x-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"DAVID McCALLUM Louie Louie (1967)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zA4xDc1Aabo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>His son Peter McCallum shared in a statement on behalf of the family.  Here&#8217;s some selected words of that statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cHe was a true renaissance man\u2014he was fascinated by science and culture and would turn those passions into knowledge. For example, he was capable of conducting a symphony orchestra and (if needed) could actually perform an autopsy, based on his decades-long studies for his role on NCIS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter returning from the hospital to their apartment, I asked my mother if she was OK before she went to sleep. Her answer was simply, &#8216;Yes. But I do wish we had had a chance to grow old together.&#8217; She is 79, and dad just turned 90.
