Gather \u2018round the computer and burn some incense\u2014it\u2019s time to experience \u201cTwas The Night Before Christmas\u201d through the twisted mindset of Zappa\u2019s avant-garde song \u201cAbsolutely Free,\u201d thanks to one fan, his brother Bob, and a little help from the Yippies.<\/p>\n<p>First, a little background: \u201cAbsolutely Free,\u201d from the Mothers album We\u2019re Only In It For the Money, just so happens to sync up nearly perfectly with a black-and-white short from 1946\u2014a visual narration of the traditional <strong>Clement Clarke Moore<\/strong> poem \u201cTwas The Night Before Christmas.\u201d The nine-minute short blends live action with animation, and features an uncharacteristically giddy moon, humanized eggs dancing over sleeping children\u2019s heads, and a mouse who looks more like a rat. The mashup itself\u2014discovered nearly five decades ago\u2014is the work of Zappa fan and Oakland, California resident <strong>Richard McQuillan<\/strong> (plus his brother, Bob).
