{"id":11229,"date":"2020-02-14T16:57:08","date_gmt":"2020-02-14T23:57:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/blog\/?p=11229"},"modified":"2020-02-14T16:57:08","modified_gmt":"2020-02-14T23:57:08","slug":"the-unlikely-adventure-of-emma-berquist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/blog\/?p=11229","title":{"rendered":"The Unlikely Adventure of Emma Berquist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.louielouie.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/emma_Berquist-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"528\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-11231\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s post may not seem to have any obvious LOUIE connections, but it&#8217;s a human story that I thought was worth sharing.<\/p>\n<p>This post refers to a scary real life story of <strong>Emma Berquist<\/strong>, who survived a terrible assault in New Zealand. <\/p>\n<p>Emma is the daughter of my friend and film school teacher <strong>Lon Berquist<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>Lon was in charge of the public access TV program that I used when I borrowed some video gear to document a crazy LOUIE LOUIE marathon at <strong>KFJC Radio<\/strong> many years ago, which somehow became the starting point for this LOUIE documentary quest that this website is connected to.<\/p>\n<p>Emma lived in &#8220;dangerous cities&#8221; in the USA, but got attacked, and almost killed in &#8220;peaceful&#8221; New Zealand.    <\/p>\n<p>Emma&#8217;s story is a scary one, but it&#8217;s well written and has a good ending (she survived).<\/p>\n<p>In fact, I enjoyed so much I decided to subscribe to <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/\">Medium.com<\/a>, the website that shared Emma&#8217;s story.<\/p>\n<p>Check it out&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@emma.berquist\/baby-well-be-fine-e0303aa5d2f9\">Baby We\u2019ll Be Fine &#8211; by Emma Berquist<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s post may not seem to have any obvious LOUIE connections, but it&#8217;s a human story that I thought was worth sharing.
